For those of you who haven't heard of him before, Matt Cutts works for Google and generally acts as their public voice on Search Engine Optimization. Several days ago, he posted a blog with links to many of Google's policies and recommendations on SEO. Specifically, he talks about robots.txt, user feedback and spam reporting, cloaking, nofollow, doorway pages, and making your sites primarily for users. And just in case you're wondering, the PageRank he talks about isn't the little green bar that gets updated 4 times a year, it's the actual PageRank formula that Google uses to determine ranking. The green bar is only loosely associated to actual rank and is neither a reliable metric nor a goal worth chasing down. Concentrate on conversions, not PageRank.
