Does anybody have any stats for how long it takes to get 10,000 pages listed on google? And once they start appearing, how long before keywords on the pages are properly indexed?

This is a conundrum which I have sought to figure out since about 2001, and as yet I have never got on top of it, although I have found these days that it can take as little as a week or two for new pages to show up on a search for the domain they are published on.

I appreciate there would be a best-case and worst-case figure, but the question is what are these figures?

I know that 10,000 pages listed on google can be a small but tasty bit of regular income, and of course if you have a few 100,000 then you can earn nearly 1000 dollars a month from ad revenue, my experiences have shown.

What I never was able to work out was how long Google takes to list the stuff. I know they have changed their methods a number of times, so that doesn't help.

10K pages? I dont think SE will crawl all of it. Until what level is was?

It crawls a lot more than that per month on my server in a good month, sometimes it's crawled 100s of 1000s of pages per month, and published 100s of 1000s of my pages, but for the first 5 years I completely failed to properly analyse or chart that stuff. Nowadays I'm much more careful, but I've only produced a few 1000 pages, much of which I'm upgrading anyway - but the upshot is that I haven't got much content for them at the moment. Whatever I've got, they seem to have mostly crawled, except for the damage caused by accidentally deciding to let my server be cut off for most of a month (I was preoccupied with money from a different online-profit project altogether).

So I know Google does crawl 100s of 1000s of pages and even list them all, you don't have to be ebay or amazon, anyone with acceptable content can get listed, but I still have nightmares trying to establish the patterns of publishing and crawling.

Anyway, not to worry. Give it another few months and I ought to be able to answer the question myself.

Increase crawling speed in google webmaster tools after 1 month. You can get them indexed within 4 months. I got mine indexed.

Make sure your pages are interlinked nicely

Yep, I've been interlinking for years - I'm a perl and shell programmer, so when I build collections of links, I often write scripts to link tonnes of (ideally good) pages and data together.

But I'm not perfect. Although the best of my content has been thoroughly enjoyed by Google's entire search system and at times yielded $500,000 of sales out of just a few thousand pages, over a year or two, at other times my experiments, occasionally very misguided indeed, have led to 300,000 listed pages producing not even $10,000 dollars in the same timeframe.

However the obvious way to progress from what I've done and learned is to try and produce more and more of the former type of content and waste less and less energy on experiments involving the latter. At the moment I have 2 or 3 'systems' which make guaranteed return, pulling in traffic for free, invariably.
