I have a page where I sell hammers. You know, the thing that lets you put a nail in. I'm charging $1,000,000 per hammer, which is a little on the expensive side, but I was kind of hoping I only need to sell a few.

Now I rank #1 in all the major search engines for terms like "hammers" and "buy a hammer" or "I work for the US government and I need to buy a hammer" but I'm not getting any sales. Now I heard about SEO bringing me targeted traffic leading to sales, but I guess that's not guaranteed, huh? You can rank #1 and still not sell anything.

Also someone told me to use white text on a yellow background. It's kind of hard to read, but they said it would anger my customers, and they'd want a hammer so they can bang on things. But I have 8,500 backlinks, so it should be ok.

How do I optimize my site?

There's some basic SEO skillz you have to clear up about how to properly optimze your hammer site:
Title Optimization
Meta Tag Optimization
Hammer Optimization
Domain Name Optimization
Content Optimization
Link Exchange with related Nail, Wood, Drill, and other Tool Websites.
You have to submit to EVERY Hammer directory you can find.
Socially Bookmark all your hammer pages (I've even hear stories about how Hammers are good to "Digg" with).
Attend every major SEO conference in the Northern Hemisphere.
Download you favorite SEO hammer ebooks from howtooptimizeyourwebsiteandgetrich.com.
Most importantly you have to log into digital pointless to Optimize your signature tags and learn the SEO basics from the masters.

If you still aren't satisfied with your results (You should be though, because I said I'm an expert), You messed up somewhere, just rinse and repeat.

So you think if I Digg and Stumble and Sphinn my hammer web site, somebody in a social network will have my million dollars? Because Mini Me is getting anxious.
