I am just playing with wordtracker today and it is not accurate. For example keyword 1 brings for Y and Google
790 Searches
1,139 Predicts

So that means I would get like at least 200 hits per day. And I am not. In yahoo I am no.1 for that keyword and I get no traffic from it.

Also I am no.2 for keyword 2 that shows

653 Searches
942 Predicts

What is going on?? ANd I get almost no traffic for that keyword

I've found that to be the case, too. And with the other one.

Plus, I don't think the 24hr estimate makes sense. I'd rather have a 24hr average (or mean) over the time period the data was collected and then I can project from there. I'm not sure how they're estimating it.

I've gone back to looking at the little blue Google bars. But I wish they would release the figures associated with the bars. I e-mailed Google about it, I'm sure they'll get right on it. (not)

It perplexes me that accurate and complete keyword info is not available anywhere. That's some VERY important and powerful data and probably why somebody's holding onto it! It's kind of hard to target keywords without it. You essentially have to make an educated guess.

Which makes it very challenging to build your SEO foundation on data you can't quantify.

Wordtracker do not have actual access to google or yahoo searches. Information captured through tool bar etc. So being limited source these can be small estimates only for reference. For many keywords actual search numbers are very high.

But other side of this means is not that if you are number on keyword then you will get big part of traffic. If you description is not righ on appearing in search for that keyword then you will hardly get traffic and you may be number one in some part of world and you may not in other part of world.

Any keyword selector tool can not give the accurate result because tools always show average or approximate result through which we can just take the overview of that keyword. So use keyword selector tool for help.

I found wordtracker can be useful in some cases but in others hard research is needed.

Not all tools are accurate. But I find that wordtracker is more accurate than keyword discovery.

I've used both Wordtracker and Keyword Discovery extensively, and I've found that KD is considerably better, particularly on long-tail terms (if you use their Historical database, which is no longer the default). They've also managed to cut down on automated search engine noise with their new default search, which is nice on phrases that are especially targeted by SEO types (ie. viagra, forex, poker, etc.).

Well you shouldn't just rely on one tool then... Maximize the resources you have. Play along with other tools and compare the results...

Im using both of it... Im aware that any tools (not only KW suggestion tools like WordTRacker and KeywordDiscovery) is not 100% accurate; they serve only as a guide.

wordtracker and google traffic estimator always have big differences in terms of results. I usually use both and do an average :-)
