How much does the top level domain affect the SEO? I find it very hard to find a free .com or .net domain so I was thinking about a .eu, but will I then loose huge part in USA?

From what I've read, all other things being equal, a top level domain will win out over an inner page url.

Domain extn. are specifies for classification later or sooner all search engines will follow.

As on today I see some country specific domain start getting advantage in the country.

So we prepared to loose on other countries or zones.

When it comes to domain names there isn't a "special" one to use. They can all rank equally in search results. However, country coded domains do tend to rank better in their geographical area.
