Hi all, I'm just curious what the consensus is, if there is one.

Do you change the description part of your meta tag for each and every page to reflect what's on the page? Or do you use a "master" description across the entire site? Or somewhere in between?

For my travel site to Toronto, Canada, I have unique descriptions for the "major" pages of the site, but I use the generic description for the website across the remaining pages.

I'm just wondering whether I should change each and every one... or at least, most of it.

There is a clue in the name.

The meta description should describe the page content in a succinct manner.

Even pages that people consider as inconsequential should have their own description.

Yes you should include unique description for all the pages. The meta description tag explain the internet user about your page when they search the website in search engines.

I think you can change your page ,but you don't must to change every ,you could add some different meta-tag in pages.That if somebody want to konw something ,and your web also have it ,i think it wiil be help him go to your web soon.

Unique descripton would also do better and helps you in pushing from supplemental results.

Use a unique description for each page. It will benefit you in every possible way. there is no good coming from having the same meta description for the whole website.

Of course! If you think every page is unique / different from one another, you should provide different meta tag description on every single page.

Yeah, different for each page depending on the content of the page. It's worth noting that a lot of search engines use the meta description on their results page, thats what that little description under the link often is

meta description tag describe the content of the page so every page should have unique description tag. title tag should also be different for each page.

definitely - every page should be optimised well - not just the description tag but the keyword tag and the title bar, as well as the content!

Yup, that's right you have to change the meta's to your sub pages to avoid duplicate.

Hi Friends,

Yes, You should use the new and unique description meta-tag for each and every pages. For search engine point of view the meta description should be 160-180 character including your major keyword and key phases. The Keywords should not be spammed there. The description will define your page service/product/business proper manners.

That is correct, unique description for all the pages with a few of the same keyword phrases will give you uniqueness
