Hey,

I'm thinking of moving my blog from "games.mysite.com/blog/" to "blog.mysite.com".

Will this affect my blog's search engine ranking at all?

Obviously I will redirect to the new location. But "games.mysite.com" is a lot more popular than just "mysite.com", so I wonder if the move will reduce the ranking of my blog posts. Or does only the popularity of the domain (or the blog page itself?) figure into the ranking?

Yes, and it can take several weeks, sometimes months, for the redirects to be fully applied.

it takes some time for SE to redirect all ur pages, but as u have 301 redirected all ur direct users as well as users coming thro organic search results, would land up in correct page.

It will take time but the Page Rank will transfer to your new location if you will redirect it.
