Your Thoughts on Forum SEO

Hey guys, I was just wondering what you guys thought about Forum SEO. I am just starting out with SEO, and as you could guess, I own a forum. Is there anything that should be done differently, when optimizing a forum?

Thanks,

Try to have static urls with post title. Try to control the spam that would come into your forum.

If you're using vBulletin, get vbSEO. It's a brilliant add-on for improving your long-tail results.

No.

Your users will optimise the content using the same language and terms that searchers will be using.

static looking URLs will make very little difference, making the page titles unique will

Yes, the URL's should be static. You can also promote it by blogging it.

If your forum is well aged, you should not switch to static URLs.

Try to get some form of mod rewrite so the URLS and titles are search engine friendly also look at get some posts which are good landing pages created for high searched for terms, this can help bring people to your forum. Also have do follow or signature links this can help to get people posting, and there are plenty of people out there sending around lists of do follow forums blogs etc, you need to get listed in these.

It would really help to know the script your using, there are SEO mods for just about everything.. I would look into those, make sure all titles and descriptions are unique on all pages, then build quality content and link to those pages.
Do that about 3,000 times and you should be well indexed in search engines and should have a good deal of traffic.. that is, if it's being searched
