Hey guys, I'm currently redesigning and optimizing my site for keywords. I had an idea to have "bar" at the top of my page with several keywords that are related to the page's content.

I don't plan on overstuffing it, and the keywords will be strictly related to the page. But do you think this would get me banned? I'm debating whether I should try this method or not.

Need to look at what your page source is going to be, not just an image to give you a decent answer.

Many websites use tag clouds, but I think this might be risking it a bit.

The tag clouds are generally disguised by linking up to relevant content and thus serving some sort of purpose.

That said, I wouldn't be as concerned with the SEO implications as I would be with the fact that it looks plain weird and distracting.

Hmm... Im not quite sure what exactly will happen if you'll do this, but as for me, i think this is not a good IDEA (still, its up to you if you want to try it!)

move them on meta tags decription.

The way I was taught, the first thing you want to occur on your page is the navigation, followed by the h1 tag (the reverse order doesn't hurt either).

If you wanna put something there, I would suggest putting the main categories. I have seen sites maintaining high PR and SERP ranks doing such; so I guess that won't be a problem.

In my opinion, if you're going to have a tag cloud, it should be functional, meaning each keyword should link to something, like a list of related articles, like you commonly see on blogs. Put it in the sidebar, where it isn't too annoying. If it doesn't contribute to the quality of your page, leave it out.

i think you will not be ban for this but you might get penalize. try to do normal things just keep it clean and nice search engine like it rather than doing those things try to keep it simple as possible.

I think, if the links on the bar point to different related articles then it's OK.

Content of the page is more important. Just stick to your contents rather than tag clouding.

If you want to do something like this there is an easier and much more favourable way of doing it

Lets assume that you are using keywords on your inner pages as well. Simply create a bar along the top like you said, and then make a breadcrumb trail. (In case you aren't aware, a breadcrumb trail is something like the one at the top of this page, which reads:

Webmaster-Talk.com > Internet Marketing and Business Talk > SEO Talk Forum > Would this SEO method get me banned?

This is fantastic for usability and gives you an oppurtunity to fill some prime SEO real estate with keywords AND link to the inner pages

I would suggest a breadcrumb trail on most websites
