Ive recently bought a new domain (mattpealingdesign.co.uk) to use for my portfolio website (which isn't yet online).

The plan is, to set my current domain; inspindesign.co.uk, (which is just a HTTP redirect, thats 1and1 for you) to just forward to my new domain.

the thing is, if I type in some of the content off my current website into google, then part of the result is inspindesign.co.uk.

So if Im to set this to forward to my new domain / website, what will appear in the result list when I search for it in Google?

I dont want my new website to be associated with my old domain, should I just forget about it? Or would it be okay to just set it to forward to my new site?

If you set up your old site to have 301 redirects for each page to the proper page at the new site, google should figure everything out transparently and it should all be updated to your new site.

If you just use a generic 301 redirect that redirects to the homepage of your new domain, your content might be temporarily de-listed until google crawls your new site.

(My opinion -- who really knows these things? Only google engineers probably)
