Hi,

I want to know whether backlinks are important in yahoo seo or not? I have seen several websites ranking well in google with fewer backlinks but nothing on yahoo. Please clarify.

They are two different search engines with different ways to handle relevancy problems. But backlinks is where they always came across.

Backlinks are vital to a sites position on SERP. One factor that I think would cause a great impact on positioning well on SERP is the quality of backlinks that you have for your site. In instances like your site doesn't show the same position between these two search engines it might be because SE1 recognized that your site has 50 quality backlinks while SE2 recognized that your site has only 25 quality backlinks. For this reason, maybe some of you backlinks were not indexed in both of these SEs (I am referring specific pages here that serves a vote to your site.).

SEO Company UK? The Web site needs to much on page optimization. How about the meta description tag? The Web site is having lots of duplicate URLs

Back links is important to yahoo. Yahoo count all back links may it follow or nofollow unlike google.

For somebody claiming to be a SEO expert you should really know this. Yahoo is just like Google, without good backlinks you will not rank well.

YES. Backlinks are important in every single search engine.

Maybe the problem is that you have more competition in Yahoo or maybe your backlinks are not being counted on Yahoo. I've seen sites with 1000 backlinks on google and 200 on Yahoo.

Usually it's the other way around but exceptions happen.

On-page factor is more important than off-page factor in yahoo. It means also backlinks increases the ranking in Yahoo SERP

hehe, next time if you were to ask about SEO, you might want to remove your sig esp if its offering SEO services and claim to be an expert

I have a site "optimized for google" that are not doing good in google and gives a lot more visitors from yahoo...and has many backlinks, this could be the reason...I will read more about it, thanks

From my experience, yahoo is more easily affected by backlinks. After getting many links to one of my pages with the same anchor text, my page ranked well for it. The page was not optimized for those keywords on page, in fact, the keywords it ranked for weren't even on the page. But had a decent amount of backlinks with that anchor text. Google showed little change.

Backlinks are important. Especially yahoo!
