I have a content website, and the content is very good. I have been doing SEO on my site for four months. I have had a one-way backlink request success rate of almost 20%, and reciprocal link request success rate of almost 65%, which I think is very good.

However, I want to spend the little time I get off my university on improving my site, rather than SEO. If I hire someone, or some firm to do SEO on my site, how much should I pay? Will adSense or something similar be able to cover the costs?

Highly unlikely, unless you hire someone with even less experience than yourself. And then of course you would have to find somebody who would take on what amounts to an illegal download site.

link begging is NOT SEO

Adsense will definatly not cover the costs.

Hiring a company will go from 300 to 500 bucks a day.
If you go for a solo approach and hire one guy it will go from 30 - 50 bucks per hour.
Or you can hire some indian or chinese guy for link building for like 40 - 50 cents a link or so.

Hmmmm notice my post was removed. Allow me to rephrase - The standard UK cost is £400-£500 a month. Timescale depends on competition and a few other factors.

Chris, allow me to appoligise, and also point out that we are all talking to a bot, it would seem that TOD movies is posting the same question on every webmaster forum

this is where i replied, and then seeing it here i tought to myself, what happened to my reply. I wont deny that i am here to shamelessly plug my company, but at least i am providing to the community and taking time to post. Spamming the same thread on every forum is just wrong IMO

That's correct, SEO can be done by anyone who has a bit of time on their hands. I would focus on building great content to start.
