If you need sales from day one - use PPC to bring qualified visitors

If it can wait until established - Optimise and market the pages.

use PPC to find high traffic search terms then optimise your pages so you get more organic traffic, this will slowly reduce your advertising costs and allow you to try more new keywords/terms or invest in some seo services or do it yourself and go on holiday with the savings

If you are not in affiliate marketing or something like ecommerce then SEO is best option and for affiliate and ecommerce website PPC comes first but SEO also should not be neglected

If your very good, you will be very good at both, If you can optimise both your site and your ppc campaign you will do very well, unfortunatly mastering both is very difficult indeed, as ppc is still a bit of a mystery to me !

Exactly, Both are important in their place because if you have sufficient budget and have no time then go for PPC. But if you have time and not so much budget then just go for SEO and wait 2 to 4 months for ranking your site. SEO is gud at their place and PPC is also good at their place...

PPC is the best way to get traffic and sales from one day... but it won't give you permanent result... better to go for search engine optimization it is long term process but you can get results by giving efforts on it.
