hi.

for a current blog hosted on blogspot, would it be advantageous from an seo perspective to move the blog to be hosted under the main site instead (ecommerce site)?

i would be interested to hear from someone who has done this, are there any negative consequences to consider? if the blogspot hosted blog currently has good SE visibility, will we lose out on that by moving it (and if so, temporarily or permanently?)

For SEO, there's no difference. Either one will be treated equally by search engine algorithms. For human users, though, having your blog on a real domain, let alone the same one as your store, confers trust. Blogspot hosting and subdomains make companies look like fly by night operations that might not be around tomorrow, investing a little bit in your online store front has a similar effect to brick and mortar.

You might want to consider wordpress.com as well. One advantage of posting on wordpress.com compared to self hosted blog would be the tags which you associate with your posts. Those tags attract traffic from wordpress users, a benefit you do not get so easily with self hosted blogs.

There is no difference as Google algorithm is fixed for all it will give all for equal priority.

If your website is seo friendly and good content then it will index your website and give high priority.

There's really no difference. But I would suggest getting your own domain and link it to your site. The pages of your blog will be indexed and added to your site.

Host your blog on a unique IP - a blogspot blog is trash. Only do it if it for fun, or you don't care about site authority.

A link from a blogspot blog is pretty much worthless
