Multiple domains - Effects on Seo?

What effects do multiple domains pointing to your website have on seo and web presence?

For example: amazon.net, amazon.info, amazon.us, amazon.us.com, amazon.uk... etc.

I read somewhere that this can increase your web presence and earn you higher rankings. Is that simply from people incorrectly typing in a .net address when they should have typed in a .com address? Basically paying for a misspelling. Or is this something like a backlink effect?

Thanks,
Shadrach

It can bring a bit of SEO, depending on the domain and how you handle the domains
Domain for amazon like that will work, because a lot of people visit amazon, and search for it.

But other than that, I think it will bring your traffic for sure. and yea misspelling might be a reason

If you have multiple domains pointing to one web address you want to do it as a 301 redirect so you don't get penalized for duplicate content.
