Hello,
I like to ask about free directory submission with NO FOLLOW link good or bad in terms of SEO if we submit our links to them. I saw some directories that have No Follow links and some directories have free regular links.
My questions are:
1. Why no follow links? do we get any benefit on our site if we submit to these types of directories?
2. For directories that offer free regular links, how do we know that they offer real free links? or hidden NO FOLLOW links?

Google will first catch directories which are having Do Follow backlinks thats why all the seo's are prefer DO Follow backlinks.

You can visit the directory you are interested in and check if it provides dofollow links
to do so use SEO quake tool and choose option Highlight Nofollow links

Google is the only search engine that currently acknowledges the nofollow attribute. So these kinds of links can still help rankings on other search engines. There is still a chance that these directory listings might send a bit of direct traffic too.

Hi,

I would suggest to find out some top directories (or niche directories) and submit your website in these directories. It would be better to submit your website in couple of top directories instead of submitting in hundreds of directories.

The best option when you are submitting links to website link directories is not to do so many over a short time period and to look for directories that are related to your website.

DO FOLLOW links are the best option in terms of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and count towards your back links, (GOOGLE PR) and other search engine rankings.

I prefer to take a look at links for sites and participate in link exchanges with websites that are related to my own and have a similar or better PR.

I stopped caring about nofollow about 38 seconds after Google announced it..

If your #1 reason for getting links is for the juice that Google gives you because of the link then you are getting links for the wrong reason.. If you focus on links the will drive quality traffic to your website everything else will follow on it's own.. If you spend your time going after generic, non traffic driving, links then you will be forever chasing after everything trying to "rank" because of your rankings..

And even if you are successful, your fortunes will be so closely tied to Google that when they make a change in their algorithm your site will collapse and you will be right back here asking why your site fell in the rankings.. But if you are building your site and gaining links for the traffic that they bring what Google does or does not do will have little to no effect on your overall performance..

And that is a very good thing..

I think all free directories are do follow and there are no no follow directories.Free directories is still helpful but not that much but its one of the easiest way of getting one way link.

in my experience nofollow will not pass PR but it still counts as a link and will carry weight for SERP.

Sure waste of time IMO. As we all know that it won't be acknowledge by the SEs.

Better go with other stuffs that you can gain instant backlinks rather than submitting it to directories with "nofollow" on their links.

submitting a website to a no-follow directory is a waste of time and money. Avoid them with all cost. I cannot understand the owner of such directory, as is well known that ONLY benefit you'll get from directories these days is a backlink, not visitors. And if that backlink is a no-follow one.. what the hell you need to submit to that directory for ?

That's true. If your target visitors prefer Yahoo for some reasons you may be interested in getting some nofollow links.

nofollow links help building authority regarding the anchor text, just don't pass any PageRank.

This page has tons of dofollow directories - http://www.vmoptions.com/directory-list.php. From what I've read, nofollow links will never be counted as backlinks.
