If I don't want to receive web traffics from the specific countries then how can I hide website contents for those countries search engines/IP's? For example if I want to target only Google Australia and don't want to get traffics from other countries especially from UK,USA countries, so is it possible to restrict outside visitor to visit our site? If yes then will it have any negative effect on Site from the view point of SEO?

I am awaiting for your valuable suggestions.

Thanks & Regards

I dont understand why you would want to block a certain country from accessing your site?

Especially when they are all english speaking?!

As long as you allow the Google spider to access the site, I don't see the problem with it. I haven't ever actually tried doing this though, so don't trust me on it. The Google spider uses certain well documented IPs, so you would have to add exceptions for it. I don't know about the other search engines, but I'd imagine its the same.

Like the others have said, I don't know why you would actually want to do this, but I'm sure you have your reasoning.

I have several sites where I block basically everything that is not in the US or Canada.. They are retail sites and we don't ship anywhere else.. We discovered that the bulk of our 'support questions' and hack attempts and general spam came from Asia / India / Russia etc.. Don't need em, don't want em..

I haven't heard of a way to block certain visitors from your site, nor do i know how to do it, but if you did do that, then your rank would decrease greatly on any search engine because you will have less traffic than other websites competing for the same spot.

I don't see the logic/point why you want to hide your content to other visitors.

Why not? it makes perfect sense for some types of content or products

Some instances:
If your content is not allowed in some countries, block those countries from viewing;
examples:
Online gambling is illegal in some area so block them;

YouTube will now block some videos if you are in certain countries.

If you don't ship to some countries, why not tell the user and not display the items.

This is one part of programing that i haven't tried.. i think i should give it a try.. it must be interesting to hide a content with valid reasons.. can anyone elaborate more of this.
Seams like this is a quick way of getting banned in search engines. The whole point of building traffic is to create content to attract visitors to your site, not hide it. As far as what is illegal in other countries like gambling they should not be going there. Have a website terms of service on your site and post a link to it.
