Step 1
Go to www.google.com

Step 2
Type this in your search bar:

Code:

    site:.edu inurl:blog

This returns all sites which are .edu that have blogs. you can now browse through them to look for blogs which allow comments

Step 3
Additionally, you can add, "post a comment" to the search query, so that only it returns .edu blogs which allow comments
So the final search query looks like:

  site:.edu inurl:blog “post a comment”

Step 4
Post comments which are insightful and add value, along with a link to your site. DO NOT SPAM. Only comments which are well written and relevant will be approved, so don't waste your time just commenting nice post etc, they will be deleted.

Aaaahhh, so thats how you get .edu links without having to pay a fortune for them.

Thanks for that, I have only got 1 .edu link so far, and wondered how to get others.

I will also try the same for .gov links too.

@haiwsnm,

Sites with .edu and .gov domain extensions have no special value on google. Even though, your site has links to those .edu sites but no one is linking to that .edu page, this will not not help boost your page rank automatically.

Google's Matt Cutts and Google's John Mueller recently said:

I believe that not big part of the EDU web sites will agree to place the link to your web site instead.

i think google doesn't matter that you are getting backlinks from .edu or .gov
google is only considering backlinks from any domain name.

Well. I believe that for the domain names which are not availible for the everyone that might be truth.

I think that, as Matt Cutts said, Google generally treats .edu & .gov the same, but it's worth remembering that a lot of .gov and .edu sites have great PageRank because they are simply very authoratative sites. This is definitely worth a look.

I've been posting comments in .edu blogs and forums for quite some time now. I think it's really a good strategy to improve ranking and increase pagerank.

you could also try adding your subject matter to find blogs of better relevance:

a question is..
if I will comment on .edu blog . and as I can see many of them has good PR, but of course on new post it no PR yet... by logic .. best to find post with some PR.. or leave a comment on new post with no PR and wait for couple months for updates?
