To be honest I think there are far worse mistakes than the ones listed on that link, but they are relevent.

I would say:

Avoid keyword stuffing
Don't sacrifice readability for keyword stuffed pages
Don't forget to use synonyms of your keywords/keyphrases
Don't forget to make appropriate use of H tags & match to TITLE
Do not link farm
Do not link spam
Do not forget to use concise ALT tags for images

These would be the biggest mistakes in my mind.

Header tag at appropriate place and alt tag of images help a lot in on page optimization and can boost you ranking in search engines. I think your targeted keyword should be the first on to be read by search engines spiders.

Another Deadly SEO Mistake would be to click through to some spammer's site, regarding 20 Hot SEO Tips, and actually implement the totally ludicrous and bogus tips he supplies.

I love how ed and the rest are doing the heavy lifting of actually posting the info the thread starter claimed to be offering. thanks ED!

While some of those tips are decent, I would pay special attention to the last one about listening to advice given by just anyone.

one I just learned recently was not to put a lot of keywords or descriptions in your title.

I agree with link farm
The reason you should always avoid link farms is that the search engines say so. Here's what Google has to say about them on their Fact Or Fiction page:

Fiction: Joining a link exchange or "free-for-all" link program will boost my rankings.

Fact: Linking schemes do not increase a given site's PageRank, and will often do a site more harm than good. Many sites that advertise link-sharing programs not only offer little value, but will distribute your email address without your permission, resulting in an increased volume of unwanted mail to you.
