OK, I have an interesting question (I hope)...

I'd like to know why people leave my site. Analysing exit pages is one way for sure but has anyone tried anything else...?

The obvious answer is, they didn't find what they were looking for.

Look at your referer stats and try to figure out why people come in the first place.

If it's from a search, did the page have anything to do with the query?
If from another site, was the page related to the one they came from?

If people will find exactly what they are looking for on your page then they will read it otherwise live it. Page design and looks also matters a lot.

defintely check where they're coming from and make sure they're the right people. I had a similar problem with an old site I used to master and found that we were getting traffic from a really bizarre search phrase that had nothing to do with our site.
