What is a perfect use of Flash in SEO?

In current web design environment flash is very significant in websites. But the big question is how much flash should be there when designing a website? Flash is a big hurdle between website and Google crawler and on the other hand without flash it is very hard to polish your website to convince customers. So what should be an adequate rate of flash to be included in website?

well I think you need to limit the use of Flash for use in a small or medium sized banners.

Flash banners are great when they are subtle and don't take away from viewing the content. If it is a big thing, then the show should only run once then go into a stationary then with a flash or effect every 10 seconds.

Remember harmony and simplicity is what you want... not a circus... that overwhelms the visitor. =)

As for SEO, I believe it's not useful at all as crawlers still can't read flash code and of course images. Just alternate text... so really a banner is to catch the eye and not really useful for SEO.

best thing to do is alt text your flash banner tags like the way you alt text your image tags.

Example using image:
<img src="image" alt="Internet explorer uses the alt tag" title="Firefox uses the tilte tag">

Got it?

From an SEO perspective, flash files aren't that good. It takes time before SE bots crawl them. Image files are so much better.

I would go with a header flash or a specials section and that's it. Keep it simple, you cant go wrong with simple. You should be adding Title and Alt tags to all of your website images.

The perfect use of Flash in SEO? If your concern is SEO, minimize Flash as much as possible. If your goal is to retain and convert viewers once they reach your site, don't overwhelm them with Flash - keep it simple.

Also, don't put flash all over your site, just put a small banner to point out useful information, don't put many because it looks -- cool, nice, fancy whatever...You will pay for that in the long run.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of flash. Many reasons...

1) 99% of times it is used, it isn't needed, can be done with ajax, etc. Lot of animation effects on links and such can be done now without flash.
2) Compatability, there are users who do not have flash player, not sure of the precentages, but still you have to have some sort of alternative content which is a pain.
3) SEO, it is difficult for SE to rank pages consisting of a lot of flash.

I could keep going, but 1 is the most imporant. Because most of what is done in flash can be done in other, better ways, may as well use the better ways to avoid the problems with flash.
