Anyone know something about seo and hosting issues. Does hosting are important for seo strategy?
Asking for this because I chosen to buy Host1Plus hosting and now read about this seo and hosting thing, so want to know more.

Hosting itself shouldn't ever affect your SEO efforts, except when it comes to Geolocation issues. If your site is targeting a particular country, it helps a little to have the site hosted there, Google does look at the IP of the host, but only when people are searching for results within a specific country. So, for a UK site, best host it in the UK.

I agree with Ed Gray, you need not worry about hosting issues.
On page and Off page SEO with give you excellent results.
Use low competition keywords for on page SEO.
Off page SEO will be article marketing and signature advertising.

just make sure your hosting is dependable.. down time and site loading also depends on your hosting... so i think those are the things you have to consider.. co'z bots might crawling your site at that time..

hosting can really affect what the rankings of your website and also the ip that you are using can give advantages or disadvantages.

performence of the site and its up time is really matter on SEO.. SO this is related with hosting.. Otherwise in promotion do not find any relation

Hosting can affect your SEO. If your host remains down or is slow, Google will visit your site less often and if server remains bad for long your site may get deindexed.

You should really go for the well-known hosts such as host gator and host monster. Make sure that the host's IP is located in the United States if you are targeted users in the USA. Matt Cutts stated in one of his videos that they do rank pages based on where the server is located.

Ed gray is correct !! Definitely a hosting within the reach of your area can be promoted well by the IP traced by the particular area's search engines... as it gives better privileges to the specific searches. By adopting the on page and off page optimization techniques, it will be helpful in getting good ranks as well as better and heavy traffic towards the particular search..as well.

Yes this is right if your hosting server may go down for long time and at that time google visit your site and your site is down than it may decrease your search engine ranking.
If you want to promote your business in local area than if you choose local hosting company than it may help you to get fast serp for your key words in local search.

If you really want to help your fellow forum members, explain why you think that.

As long as your site is always up, hosting has little effect on SEO (apart from the geo stuff that edgray mentioned earlier)

If you have more than one domain and you are going to link them to each other, that won't change a thing. The search engine can't see any difference because they all come from the same IP address. Your hosting has its own IP, it's like interlinking in your own domain.

So it is essential to find links from other people's sites or blogs or web2.0 properties.

The best thing is to have links from articles you submitted to article directories because they have unique IPs.

On the other hand, if you only have one domain or 2 but is not planning on linking them, it is still good to have that hosting that you want.

I agree with commenter above me.....
Choose hosting service from your largest targeted audience area like if your targeted market is UK then choose a hosting provider from UK and if it is USA then better is USA Hosting Provider.

Yes, it is really possible. Sometimes no matter how much seo you tried to do for your site, it still wont make it to the top pages due to some hosting issues. So its really a must that you study your chosen host very well before having a deal.
