Hi

Has anyone got an explination for this? over the last few weeks I have noticed a drop in PR over the whole of my site and also one of the main visited pages http://www.fradleycroft-events.co.uk/venues.php has been dropped from Google.

This page was ranking pos 1 on page 1 for over the last 6 months but now it has dissapeared and I cant work out why!!

I have been doing some work lately signing up to new high ranking directories and gaining good PR backlinks but nothing too crazy.

Has anyone got any ideas what has happened here?

thanks

Jim

you're right, it's gone from Google's index:

http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en...G=Search&meta=

Hmm. Ok, first thing head over to Google and find a backlink checker of some description and see if your page is linked to from a bad neighborhood.

Next make sure the page is on your XML sitemap and that hss been submitted to Google.

Then find a duplicate content checker and see if the Google duplicate content filter has knocked the page out.

Good luck!

I have done all that mate and all the BL are from good sites that I submitted a press release to through PR web.

I cant find any duplicate content and I have checked that the page is in my XML site map.

Im totaly confused here, the only strange thing that I can see here is that the key phrases "team away day venue midlands" or "team building away day venue midlands" etc that I optermised this page for are now showing for 2 of the other pages on my site which have now taken position 1 and 2 on page one Google.

This is obviously great but the more specific page (the venue page) has gone!

Any more ideas?

Jim

hmm.

well I've noticed strange things happening since Google changed their webmaster tools... maybe a bug of some description? That's a pretty cop-out of an answer I know...

I'll investigate further and see if I can spot anything, It does seem weird Google singled out this particular page...

Great thanks for that!

Let me know how you get on - Our business is based mainly on sales through the web site and stuff like this gets my head banging!

Does Google sometimes do strange things like this and then right its self after a few days as I have seen PR change frequently and then settle down again?

I know PR is not to be concerned about too much but I do use it to judge relevance against other competitiors sites.

Must be some issue or a bot triggered ban. If you think you did no wrong then request for reconsideration via webmaster tools.

Ok thanks for this,

I think I will give this a week and then see what happens if the page doesnt get re-indexed then I will look at reconsideration.

i think google filter the page http://www.fradleycroft-events.co.uk/venues.php ,you should get more backlinks with this page or make another page instead.

Thanks for all your interest guys but the problem has now been solved!

The page is back up where it was before in the rankings and as if nothing had changed! wiered

Im guessing that it was some sort of glitch and the best thing to do next time is not panic and wait a few days!

Good to hear that it was back to normal Jim. Stuff like that do occur indeed.

One of my blog got rank PR3 within a month, but after a week it came back to n/a ...i was really confused that time what did go wrong. And after 2 or 3 days it goes up again but not Pr3 anymore.. at least it rank to PR2.

Although we say that we should not panic, it can't be help.
