Hi Everyone,

I would really really appreciate any feedback on this issue. I have built a few Web sites in the past, and I ended up with few people visiting them, but I thought I didn't have anything good to offer and that is why I'm not getting visitors. Recently (about 2 month ago) I create
www. teasker. com which offers free backup and restoration of accounts of users on myspace, facebook, etc. I thought I finally had something worthwhile to offer, and expected to have hundreds if not thousands of visitors per day. But I have been disappointed to the extreme. I get at most a dozen visitors per day. My site seems to come up ok if you look for something like "myspace backup". For example on Yahoo, it comes up the forth(it comes up under wapcare.com, but that redirects to teasker . com). Can anyone tell me what is wrong? Other people seem to build sites which are much less sophisticated and does not offer anything meaningful, but they talk about hundreds and thousands of visitors. How come my site which offers a free and I think somewhat appealing service gets no visitors. If I can get visitors to my site, then I can work on converting them. But I'm not getting visitors which is the very first necessary step. Again, I really really appreciate any feedback. This issue is killing me.

Google reports the phrase "myspace backup" has currently having just 720 searches a month so that's why it won't bring in many visitors.

Try targetting some different keywords/phrases, eg "myspace layouts" get around 13 million searches a month.

Thanks blue-dreamer. I've been thinking around that line for a while, but I think I wanted to hear it from someone more knowledgeable in this area. Just one thing, given that I'm not offering myspace layouts, would that work? Specially that the content of the page itself is centered around backup on myspace, facebook, etc.

Also, just a sort of philosophical question. I've always chosen to provide a service that I thought I'm good at; meaning because I thought backup service for social networking is a good idea, and I can do it, I built a web site around that. But do you think that this is the wrong strategy? I mean the alternative is to see what people are generally searching for, and then try to come up with a service for that.

Granted you are not doing "myspace layouts" but this is where some research and thinking comes in...

There are a lot of searches for "myspace layouts" as I said, but what I'd do in your case is revise your target keywords to take popular searches into account. For instance you could change "myspace layouts" to "backup your myspace layouts" or "myspace layout backup" to take these into account.

That's the basic idea anyway. I'd suggest doing some keyword research to see what people are really looking for, then adapt your site to cater for those words and phrases to improve your serach listings.

I think it's a great idea, you have a service that does something useful, but the trick is getting it noticed and telling people why they need it.

No problem. Keep on researching and tweaking, and monitor the results of any changes you make. If you keep plugging away at it you should start to see some results.

What is more important in targeting a keyword is that Are people searching for these keywords you are targeting?
Probably the keyword is so specific that very few people think of using it or you have not been very careful at optimizing our content despite getting the top ranking.

The keyword is a very specific, non-competitive search term that very few people would ever search on. If no one searches on a page's targeted key phrase no one will find the page, hence no traffic from the top Google ranking. Though if traffic comes they are usually targeted visitors to the web page.

Thanks guys. That's definitely true that I didn't do my research with respect to number of hits keywords get. Luckily, although the back end took a very long time to develop, but there is not a lot of content on the site and I can easily change the targeted keywords. I'll keep you updated in this respect.

Having a keyword with monthly searches of at least 2500 will definitely be worth the SEO. If you have about 20 keywords like this, you can have lots of visitors if you optimize your site (on and offsite) properly.

I guess your question has already been answered - it's the keyword positions that are actually searched for that count.

However, I believe traffic is not the whole story - the most difficult (yet quite rewarding) task is attracting targeted visitors. If you have those, huge traffic is no longer necessary.
