Hi all,

I do SEO for Motorkwik, a used car company in uk.I have been working with this site for more than 2 months.Out of 15 keywords, 2 keywords ranked in Google.I do check ranking on daily but recently i noticed those ranked keywords aren't anywhere in Google.I am very much concious for that reason.

Is it harmful to check rank on a daily basis?

Not at all, it will have no bearing on how you rank.

It can't have any effect on rankings whatsoever. The only thing that can occur is personalized search when you are signed into your gmail account, but in this case you would see artificially high rankings, not your site disappearing.

I disagree, it will only help your campaigns do better in the future. I am always searching for new keywords to throw in a campaign. How will your campaign survive the test of time if you not always critiquing your own work?

Overall, yes browse and test new keywords that you feel fit, do not throw in bulk amounts though...test them, if they seem to work, let them stick around.

Just my two cents

so what are you going to do about the fact that each time you check "rank" it will probably be different? 5 Reasons Why Rankings Are A Poor Measure Of Success

Do something usefu instead! Read your site logs and see what phrases/words bring REAL qualified visitors.

This is a good point. You could be #1 for all your target keywords but if you're not looking at things like your bounce rate and how long people are staying on your site, and whether they're spending any money, all your effort could be wasted.

For a start, make sure you're targeting the right keywords/phrases. Make sure your site is actually beneficial to those looking at it. Get a professional copywriter to write your text.

It is not harmful. Why would it? If you check it daily, the search engines will see you as a regular surfer looking for infos. Not harmful.

Just continue what you're doing and it will pay off in the future. Try to use social sites like squidoo and scribd, they can rank well in SERPS.

Good luck.

Just make sure your logged out. Although it sounds dirty, google does own many parts of the "machine". Chances are your gmail account has web search history turned on so they could see the searches, and also see that you have competing sites (if your running adsens).

Again, thats not supposed to happen, but do you think they wouldn't do it?

Logout just to be safe.

Checking of ranking frequently doesn't affect your SERP, your link building strategy is what affecting you SERP changes everyday.
