I am determining whether or not to put an RSS Feed on my website. What are the advantages of having an RSS Feed. I know that it helps with SEO, but how? This is what I know so far.. please add to it.

Advantages

Dynamic updates from other people to my website.
Frequent updates. When the RSS gets updated, my website gets updated.

Disadvantages

RSS links go to other peopls website.
Can be bad for affiliate revenue and traffic.

My question is.. if I do updates on my site every day, is the RSS feed really worth adding? I would rather have my visitors stay on my website and me post my own news than to have my visitors redirected to someone elses website and lost that visitors.

Please add to my list, and give me your input on RSS feeds.

I personally think if you update your website daily one or twice the RSS feeds for the visitors can get annoying if they are a subscriber. But, I know other people see it differently. In the end its really what you feel your website will obtain higher interested.

Given that I will be adding new content to my website daily, I really don't see a reason for me to have an RSS feed. Unless there is something I am missing, I think I'm going to pass on the RSS.

I don't see a point in submitting my content to my website then going back and adding that content to the RSS.. It just seems like more work (for no benefit) on top of the marketing, writing new articles, proof reading those articles, and the countless other things I have to do.

another advantage of RSS is that they help u to keep return vistors who are truly interested in your site

My suggestion is to put the rss feed for your site because it has a lot of advantages.

Well, I could have my main site display RSS feed of my blog (which is hosted separately) to carry out update promptly. I can also go for RSS exchange so it's even. You give out traffic as you're given. Other than that, I would not use RSS.

Main advantage: you can feed other site and get links from every post.

Main Disadvantage: these days a lot of bloggers are use to set up an auto blog coming from RSS feeds.
