A few of my sites regularly get referrals from Facebook and I can't figure out why. I did make a posted item on one of my websites a few months ago which probably would have given a bit of traffic from a few of my friends... but for some reason the traffic doesn't stop coming!

It's a bit annoying how I can never see the actual referral path, I suppose other people must have just posted them?? Not that Im complaining anyway lol.

It's probably people sharing a link, either by posting it to their friends or it could be in a Facebook group as well. It can be a little frustrating not being able to track it more accurately, though. I had a ton of traffic coming through and it was labeled direct traffic. It just about drove me nuts trying to figure out where it came from.

make number of friends in facebook.com and share with your blogs,videos and news etc.with them and update your profile daily.

I wouldn't complain at all! This is one of the joys of viral marketing, especially through Facebook. When your friends share a link it appears on their friends feeds, and the process can make things spread like wildfire. A great promotional tool.

Is the traffic converting?

It's not converting unfortunately lol. I assume it's just other web designers, afterall my site seems to get posted on random blog's now and then so I'm guessing people must to like it for inspiration!

Wow. That's cool. You're right maybe someone just posted your site url or someone just visited your profile and click your previews post.

If you can discover where it is happening on facebook and expand it, then you might convert some of that traffic?

If you are interested in seeing the exact referral path, I am sure statcounter can help you with that.. There's this section on the statcounter projects dashboard called "visitors path" that list all referral URLs and the landing page..

Though there's limitation with the free account. Just try it. If you're satisfied, then you know it's worth a pro membership fee...
