Varying Anchor Texts to Singular Page

Alright, so I am building page after page, listing product after product, giving them searchable and traffic lucritive KW's.

Now, when I link to those pages from other pages in my site or even get backlinks to those pages, should the anchor text ALWAYS match the title of the next given page?

I would vary things slightly, not massively, but a little. Google is suspicious of massive amounts of links with the same anchor text - I believe it views this as a form of keyword stuffing.

I would go for some variations.

use a few variations of order, and also closely linked keyword terms, mix it up a bit. Thats what we do on our site by allowing members to enter anchor text variations so that they do not fall foul of google assuming their linkbuilding is automated.

Diversifying anchor text will not only help you avoid the above concerns, but also diversify the number of queries you can rank for.

Anyway, I wouldn't overdo things either way - just try to get anchors that best fit your page content.

Not really, like egray said you could make a small change in it. But be sure that it is what your site is all about. The shorter the better I suppose.

Just vary your keywords in some few ways to point the same page. In this way you can increase SERPs for these keywords without Google see.

So you would say that untold millions of of pages with "Click Here" would cause "issues" for this page?

If you have a page with 1000 inbound links and ALL 1000 have the exact same link text, it could possibly trip a filter at Google.

But I'm willing to bet that Adobe has TONS of varied link text. One of the more popular is likely "click here" as you pointed out. But also "download now" and many others. I doubt all of their links use "click here".

"could possibly" being THE phrase. No one knows for sure, the overwhelming evidence points towards NOT but everybody states that it is the case, as if it is a fact.

Another thing has struck me!

You often find the same people babbling on about "the same anchor text being a big "SEO No No" are posting at every forum/"blog"/"SM site" they can find and using exactly the same signature

I like the catchy advertising firm that conveniently purchased the URL "clickhere.com" and is listed directly under Adobe in that search.

I think I remember someone saying that keywords didn't matter in domain names, and with that search it proves it does (not sure they wanted to be ranked for that term) matter.

Slight variations can look natural to search engines. However not heard of google penalising similar looking anchor texts.
One thing you must ensure is to actually include keywords or their synonyms every time though you may try different keyphrases (combination of keywords).

I'm pretty sure that the Google team know how to handle things like "click here", "visit site", "www" etc etc.

I do kinda retract my previous statement, what I really meant to say was more along the lines of making things look natural. A natural variation in anchor text I would think would be a good thing for Google.

What is more important, however, would be the quality of the page with the link on - PR, domain authority, number of other outbound links etc...

I'm pretty sure now, having recently changed a lot of my forum anchor texts to read the same, that Google doesn't seem to mind about the same anchor text, or at least not for my sites anyhow.

also, if your page is optimised for more than one keyword, surely it would be best to have the anchor text vary to include all the keywords?

It doesn't hurt but just targeting one word works fine too.
