Link to site map on every page

I've just created a site map on my photography site with a link to it from the home page but I can't decide whether to link to it from every page on the site.
I've been advised that it's better to have just one link from the home page to the site map. Apparently, if I link to it from every page on the site those pages will lose some of their page rank, because they are passing on some of their page rank to the site map.
To me, it makes sense to have a link from each page to the site map. A site map on every page makes the site easier to use, and this is more important than page rank.
However, the site map also contains an active link to every article on the site, as well as a link to every page.
If I link to the site map from every page on the site, those pages will maybe lose even more of their page rank, because they will be passing on some of their page rank to every article, as well as to every page.
Any opinions would be appreciated.

Wrong!!
Pages DO NOT "lose" PR because of outbound links.

I'd suggest you lose the idea that PR is something to even care about pretty quickly.

Google usually ignores those types of pages anyways. Its very normal to link your sitemap from every page.

Good usability design is important, but also focus on getting high quality links and producing a high quality product, service and content and you will be fine.

I agree, most sites link to their sitemap from every page.

Pages DO NOT "lose" PR because of outbound links.
I'm not a SEO expert, but the way I've seen this explained in a different forum is:

page with 10 outbound links passes 1/10 of page's available "link juice" to each page

page with 100 outbound links passes 1/100 of page's available "link juice" to each page

Therefore the more outbound links you have, the less "link juice" is passed to each page.

Before Google apparently said that nofollow links might "evaporate" link juice, I used to make unimportant pages (ie pages that I didn't think people would search in Google) nofollow from the master page and then put a dofollow link to them from sitemap. Now I personally make all pages dofollow from the master page - including the sitemap, but I only put a link to the sitemap in the footer rather than in the main menu structure.

I don't see any problem with having a link to sitemap in every page. Many sites do that, and they never get penalized.
