I have created a xml sitemap and uploaded it to my site. Please explain me how it will help me to get rank high in search engine?

Having an xml sitemap doesn't guaranteed your search engine rankings but it helps your site to get index all the pages within your site if you would submit the xml sitemap on google webmaster tools and in yahoo.

The more pages index by google the high posibility of getting rankings on Search engine.

It helps to index all the pages of a site.So submit your site's sitemap to multiple search engines.Google prefer the XML sitemap.

sitemap is like a table of contents of your site and it help SE bots to crawl your site easily.. try to read more about SEO if you want to have a good rankings..
