My site example.com ranks #1 in Yahoo for the keyword "example" but does not show up in the search results for Google with the same key phrase. Why is this?

Does Yahoo place that much more weight on having the keyword in the domain name than Google?

Given that Google given very little to no significance at all to "keyworded URIs" yes they do.

Yahoo have for a very long time used the "site architecture" as a small part of their algo. Though it has been a fair while since I last had a test running for that.

I think you have many competitors in google, that's why? it differs in search results with yahoo...

Google and Yahoo both are working on different algorithm. So it may happen that your site is fulfill yahoo algorithm but not able to fulfill Google algorithm. For that you need to do some work for your site. Generates some dofollow backlink for your site may be it is very helpful to you.

Yeah,,that was happened to me also, I have ranked in yahoo but not on Google, what I do is just continue doing the link building..

Simply because yahoo and google are two different search engine to start with. It doesn't mean that when you top on yahoo is that you'll get the same exact result on google. They have a different algo system that they use.

Yahoo, Google and MSN Bing have their own algorithms.

Google and Yahoo are two different SEs. Yahoo gives more weight to onpage factors. Google ranking is based on quality and relevancy of content and backlinks.

We all know that Yahoo and Google has different algos, but not even indexed by Google?

Well, i guess your situation is much more better since Google is bigger than Yahoo!

But, really, for most of the time, top in google, then u won't be too bad in Yahoo!

Google is more strict in relevancy and quality. There are also other high competitive sites for this popular keywords. You should try to create more quality backlinks to get high positions in SERPs of Google.

yeah there is a big defference between google and the other search engine,but no one knows why?
