Hello,
My question is regarding using 301 redirects from one website to another and the way google views them. I have recently used a 301 redirect from a website to a newer page elsewhere and then noticed a boost in serps for the new page. I then redirected the links again to an even newer page.
Will google penalise my new page for constant shifting of my 100 or so links or will the serps improve again?
Does shifting inbound links more then twice work against a site or will it make no difference?
Thanks

Each time you redirect it can take several weeks for the results to stabilise.

It won't be a penalty but it will seem like one.

Redirect your site A to B and again B to C is not a problem from the SEO perspective but Keep one important thing in your mind while redirecting that your pages should not have multiple redirects, means when you redirect your PageA to PageB then You redirect pageB to PageC at this point of time Google can Crawl your link of page A any time (existing on the web) and will not able to reach to your destination page which is PageC.

And this will create a problem in indexing of your PageC and ultimately will affect your serps for keywords.

So keep updating your last updated page where you put redirects to avoid multiple redirects

According to my example you should change the destination page on your page A too (where you put redirect to Page B)when you redirect your pageB to PageC

Hope I have explained it well if not then please ask.

Cheers,
