That's a good article. It's something I've done before and had plenty of success with. Flash sites needn't be any more difficult to SEO and promote than HTML ones.
The main point there is using SWFObject to embed the flash files within HTML pages and show an HTML replacement of the content for those who don't have Flash installed, are using a mobile device or a text-based browser or search engine spiders. Providing an HTML equivalent is actually a legal requirement in Europe so you should be doing that anyway.
Then you would just SEO your HTML versions as you would on a normal HTML site. Building links will get you your rankings so that process would remain the same.
When it comes to larger flash sites, there are flash plug-ins that help with "deep linking" (God I hate that term) if you wish to promote pages within your flash movie. Firstly, use as much XML as possible to define your website (this is crawlable, provided the SEs can find it. This is a good article on that:

Or this one from Adobe: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/ar...p_linking.html
Before you attempt a Flash website, bear in mind the work - essentially you'll be making 2 websites. Makes you wonder if it's worth it.
