Hi everyone,

I am in need of some advice regarding my 2 websites! I have a cafe which also offers deliveries of sandwiches etc to businesses, and i set up my first website in 2001 www.coffeebeancafe.co.uk so businesses could order online. Recently i bought a more attractive domain name www.capitalcaterers.co.uk , which better describes what I am offering (delivery of sandwiches etc. throughout London), and have just launched this to take over the online ordering from the Coffee Bean Cafe (CBC) site.

The CBC website is now just a static website without ecommerce, and with links to the CC site, and some duplicate content. I now want to concentrate my efforts on the CC site, but my problem is what to do with the CBC website regarding SEO implications. Will it help my CC site if i put a permanent redirect from CBC to CC, or is it better to leave CBC running as a separate site?

The only purpose of CBC now is as a gateway to CC, but CBC does have a PR of 2, and is well established, whilst CC site is new with a PR of 0. I am concentrating all my efforts on my CC site now, and starting to do link building etc, but i just don't know whether to do any SEO work on my CBC site, or just redirect it to the CC site.

Any advice is highly appreciated!!
Regards
Mike

You can do a lot of stuffs, the choice is yours.

1. Keep the two sites separate. CBC can be a gateway to CC where CBC Online ordering form takes the visitors to CC website. Otherwise, let remain the other content pages as they are.

2. Old sites has always and will be an instrument in ranking. Why discard it?

3. The CBC site has been there for quite a sometime and thus had created some kind of a brand value which is not quite possible to attain for this new domain.

The other solution.

1. Put a 301 Permanent Redirection from the old pages to the new pages of the CC site. (Which I suppose will take time for Google to understand and then transfer the weightage to this new domain).

I hope this helps.
