Hi all

I am starting this thread to discuss, review and creating a list of seo evaluation tools. Please share your experience with the tools you have used for analyzing meta tags, checking robots syntax error, extracting page size, image and alt text extractor etc

The only "tool" you need is a brain.

The rest are just fluff and distracting junk

I almost agree. Most seo software i have tried often slows me down instead of speeding me up. Especially submitters. Most of them are complete poo.

I only use link popularity check. And that isn't really to check the links as such. More to compare myself to some of the competition.

And i use RankBL as it tells my Google search position for any keywords. Other then that I have deleted all the other programs i have tried....

I use this forum to discover better ways to optimize my site, but beware, there is A LOT of noise to filter through!

I have made the same reply elsewhere and been shot down for it!

But nevertheless I still think the best SEO tool is our brain.

I tried WebCEO a few years back but nowadays I find two online tools that help me identify things and are sometimes useful which are >

http://whois.domaintools.com/ (The "site profile" part - but don't let some of the % scroes worry you too much)

and

http://www.backlinkwatch.com/ (Quite handy to find out what crud is backlinking to you so you can "perhaps" improve any negative willy nilly with more relevant links to out weigh the rubbish irrelevant linking)

But "Brain" is definately the best answer!

Yeah, it's better check the site manually done using software to check it.
