Let me provide a scenario here:

If an author submits 10 unique articles to one specific directory, which contain the same anchor text link for a specific keyword, would each article still count as a unique backlink for that website even thought they are coming from sub domains of that article directory?

As far as i am aware you are fine, so long as the content in the articles themselves is not duplicated.. I'm pretty sure that the anchor text its self has no affect what so ever on whether your link would be considered unique.. Its all about unique article content...

It really best to spread it around - for an example, one at articlebase, another at EZA, and another at GoArticles
