Am creating signature links on do follow forums for a website from last 3 months.

Initially it was showing 4000 backlinks in Yahoo and 45 backlinks in Google, where forums links were also listed.

But Now after 3 months if i check backlinks in yahoo, its falling down everyday..it is 2000 now. More over Google backlinks are around 27 only....there is no forum links shown in backlinks in Google or Yahoo.

signature Links to the forums are still live and cached and do follow. But i dont understand is forums links gives temporary heaps to backlinks or what is the actual issue?

Please help me.............ASAP

A lot of forums "archive" content after a certain period of time, which would result in your links ceasing to be hyperlinks - that may be the reason.

You can use www.backlinkwatch.com to see your 1st 1000 live backlinks they can find. Make of the info you find what you will.

Personally I don't regard linking as strictly SEO per se. The clue is in the word "Optimisation" (optimization), in that true optimisation is about on page content/text/wording within your page content and tags. Well that and your anchot text and URL structure of course.

My advice would be perhaps stopping concentrating on backlinks that will get archived and concentrating more on providing useful content will better serve you.

By the ASAP comment I get the impression you are panicking over something you can do little about, other than getting better forms of links.

Ya that may be the reason, but you are not sure about that.

Am using - backlinks watch tool but message shown is - Out of Yahoo quota for today. Total 50,000 queries executed already.

You are panicking over nothing. You can't stop forums archiving their content, which removes your links. You need to find a better linking method, or better still not worry about linking so much and concentrate on your page content.

PS I edited my previous post before you replied to.

Links are not removed. They are still live and cached on forums.

Page content is also unique still.

Cached where? Do you mean Google?

If so I doubt links in a Google cache will be counting as links as it will be the archived pages showing up in searches. I could be wrong on the Google Cache thing but it seems doubtful to me.

But Chris! How else could he get links to his crappy sites? You don't think actually putting content out there that people will want to link to would be useful do you?
