It has been discussed many, many, many times here already. Make use of the forum resources before asking a very general question.

If you have a specific question, then not a problem, dicussion is useful there.

Well, I had a new site which had about 5-6 months years old, I had posted unique & fresh content on 40-45 web properties 2.0 sites (blogger, wordpress and etc), After 3-4 weeks, I have seen my site was listed on top # 30 for the main keyword. Later, I had added another set of content to my web properties 2.0 sites, after 1-2 weeks, I am on top # 10 now. It is a pretty amazing experience to me. Hope it will help to others, at the same time, I love to hear others experience too.

it's just another method of getting junk links for junk MFA sites that aren't going to get links any other way.

Know of link baiting? It means creating something with a link to your site on it that other webmasters would want to add it to their site and you get lots of links for doing so. For more information on link baiting, go google "link baiting"

What! Who ever thought of such a thing!

Honestly though, in some niches, like mine, it isn't very easy to have "great information/content" but since my competition doesn't even bother with updating their sites, I plan to be rattling their cages in a few months once my site gets footing.

Good try! But I guess you should continue working on it. I also experience to rank my keyword on first page but it lost and returned again. You will have a stable rankings after working on it about in 6 months.

SEO work is not only related to promotion work it is related to optimization works also.

If you new, you should know about promotion work properly at first. After that, you can go through optimization work.

In promotion work, you should know about - link exchange, types of link exchange, directory submission, article submission, RSS submission, Bookmarking, Blogging, Forums participation etc.

I think these are all promotion methods while doing SEO but if you want to know something new and want to put it in action then you need to search and read all time regarding SEO.

E-book submission,classified submission blog commenting and micro blogging is new work in SEO. you can use image and slide sharing and video posting also.
