When people say that you need "good keywords" for your blog or website, Someone might not know what that means.

e.g.
Keywords with higher search volume?
or
keywords with lower advertise competition?

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY GOOD KEYWORDS

As rightly said by Chris, the keywords which are searched by interested visitors to actually go through the results and visit your site, are considered good keywords.

You should normally not rely on the competition.
For eg. there is more competition for keyword "dental" but people don't search for it. you should rather check for "dental tips" or "dental surgeries" which don't have as many results as the first one, but they are the keywords which one would search for.
Better research on a few sites in your site's competition, where they are ranking well and you would get a better idea.
If you already have some good traffic from search engines, check your own site stats, and research more on focusing on those keywords and related ones.

Absolutely right, but of course there is no harm looking thought a list of keywords that will send real interested visitors and filtering out the ones that don't give you as much of an advantage.

Competition is indeed one element to consider, but don't listen to people when they tell you that there is a "formula" you can use to put keyword competition into easy and manageable mathematical terms. You may have to have a good look around at lots of different aspects of your competition before you figure out which is the most likely keyword to succeed.

Oh and don't bother with KEI, KOI or KFI, they sound great in theory but don't actually work.
