Hi,

on this site I created here: modenafinefoods.com, it was ranked at the top a month ago.

Now, when I type "modena fine foods" into google, it doesn't show up at all. Does anyone know what the issue could be??

some possibilities:

A: it's just one of those things and it will be back to what passes for normal in a few days.

B: The rollout of "Caffeine" has affected whatever promotion you have done, and rendered it ineffectual.

C: As above, but the "filters" are still up full and as the Google engineers tweak things it will re-emerge.

In any case I wouldn't do anything different for a week or so

Could be a lot of things. You do show up around the 10th page when I wrap quotes around "modena fine foods" and search. You're still in Google, just not where you want to be.

Mind sharing some of the things you did to rank at the top a month ago. You should likely be getting a boost because the search is an exact match for your domain, but a boost alone might not be enough to hold the top spot.

I took a quick look at your site and didn't see anything glaring that I would think would cause problems.

When you're searching now and in the past do you know if you were logged into something Google, maybe gmail. If you were then it could be you were seeing personalized search results showing you at the top and now you're not logged in and so not seeing the results personalized for you.

Thanks for the replies.

I did not do anything notably special when the site was ranked highly a few weeks ago, all I did was submit the URL to google as I have done for other small sites that I've created and have had usually very good results on the front page. I did take the site live sometime in october, and all I did really was submit the URL to google, checked a few weeks later, and everything was great for the search ranking on the front page.

It's strange because when I type actual context from the site pages, even then it does not show up on the front pages of the google search.

I was logged into gmail, but logged out it worked fine for top results.

Is there something different I should be doing to get higher rankings other than just "submitting my url" to google? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

So there is absolutely nothing at all happening then, other than the very, very, very normal behaviour of a new site "ranking high" for the first 6 to 8 weeks of it's existence and then dropping down to where it really belongs!

Thanks, I'll work on a few things for promotion, maybe altering the titles of the pages for a higher ranking.

Also, I noticed that an alt tag is not appearing on the logo, so I'll try to amend that as well.
