Social networking is all about having that group of people who share similar interests in variety of ways (applications, software, etc) and these would cover on file sharing, chatting, commenting, exchange of videos/photos, and are mostly free to join. On the other hand, social bookmarking stays social in the way it allows the "sharing" methods but, it remains different by only having the collections of every user's links/bookmarks under a relevant page and there are no interactions involved.
