speculations are ripe that the year 2010 will bring a new wave trends in the web design, even though every trend cannot be a trend setter but interesting trends have always brought the much needed evolution to the web designing.Each and every trend has contributed in bringing user experience more nearer to the user expectations.

this is a big problem though, isn't it?

Design should not be subject to "trends", it should be independent of fashion and such. Design is responding and solving a brief, a problem, not styling a site with the latest fashions.

I'm hoping this gets remembered in 2010, and we see less design fads and more real, usable design.

Every decade brings a new "trend" (for "trend" read "fad") in design (not just "web")
In the web world the last decade brought "web2.0", let's hope we have seen and heard the last of that!!.
The decade before animated gifs were all the rage <shudders at the memory>

The thing is these "fads" come and go (unfortunately some also come back) while solid, good design keep on going.
