Just checked a client's site andnoticed that they have had a few clicks from my site.

It's the same page but has 2 different URLs

on is http://www.mywebsite.co.uk

the other is http://mywebsite.co.uk

I understand that this is how the server works but my question is would search engines regard this as 2 different pages or do I not need to worry. If it does, which version is best?

If you don't care which version the SEs decide to show do nothing at all and they will figure it out.

BUT if you want to choose, pick one and redirect the other to it

Well, signup with google web master tools and there you will find a setting where you can choose any one of those there for google. I don't know about bing and yahoo.

use a 301 redirect pointing to the url you choose to have whether its with the www or no www
