Indexing problems for my website

Hi there!

I'm new to this community; Google brought me here.
I have a problem with my website: basically Google is indexing only half of my pages.
I've been running this website for almost an year now, and I've tried anything, but still haven't figured out what the problem is.

I've checked the pages with SEO Browser, and they look fine to me: I don't have duplicated canonical URLs, meta tags are okay, and I'm using friendly URLs for all of them. I think I've made all the efforts I could to make my website SEO-friendly. I've also submitted a sitemap to Google containing all those pages through Google Webmaster Tools.

One notable thing is that I also have a message board on that same website (in a subdirectory), and it looks like it's getting indexed fast, while the website isn't.

Any advice would be very appreciated - I'm really running out of ideas at this point, and searches on Google and forums didn't help.
Thanks in advance!

Sitemaps do nothing at all.

SE "Friendly" URIs play a very little (0) part.

Getting the technical details "right" is a small part of the overall picture.

Optimising the site for users and promotion to attract those users is the biggest part and you don't seem to mentioned anything about that part.

I didn't mention it, because apart from it being obvious, it's clearly not the issue, since the forums are completely indexed, whereas it looks like my problem is only related to the website.

That's why I was asking about SEO stuff.

Update: I've found this awesome tool: webconfs.com/search-engine-spider-simulator.php and found a bug in some URLs which were clearly causing the problem. (The browser wasn't reading them in a different way.) Thanks anyway!

If you want your site to be indexed in Google, you may do article submission, social bookmarking and forum posting because in my own experience, my free blog is index in just 4 days by doing those off page SEO techniques.

I fully agree with Ian0031, and would like to add here, you should check if all the pages of your site have backlinks, and don't forget to add links to new pages, in my case that was the problem

Try to build quality links. Article marketing and blog comment help you out.

I believe having all pages linking to each other is enough. You just need to be patient and wait a bit

Try to link the pages between themselves and then it will be easier for Google to find your pages and thus to index them.

This happens to all of us, the only thing you'll have to concentrate on know is to get indexed faster -
  • Submit a sitemap
  • Start social bookmarking
  • Get links from other blogs
  • Post frequently

I think if all your pages are properly linked, google bots can follow the links to index all pages very quickly.
