Hi there

I have been looking into 301s and how to use them on my sites, from what i can gather its a good idea to 301 your homepage address for example

domainname.co.uk to www.domainname.co.uk

is this true ?

also should you do

www.domainame.co.uk/index.html to www.domainname.co.uk ?

Anything in particular you should worry about when doing this ?

Only if it matters to you which version you want to show in SEs. BUT IF you only link to one or the other it really won't matter.

same with the hostname.tld/indexpage.ext

If you never link to the index pagename internally, it will never become an "issue"

It does seem I do have some links to my non www page, I didnt do this on purpose mind lol

Do you know what the exact code would be to redirect non www to www ?

Ive searched on many pages hard to find a clear answer
