Is there such thing as too many H2 tags? If I turn all the green headers on this page

http://www.savings-secrets.com/stock...nds-price.aspx

into H2 tags will Google hate it?

Did I miss the bit where you asked "Will it benefit my users"?

why would you want more than one H2 tag?

The H tags are they to signify the meaning in the following content, which is presumed to devalue downwards on a page, typically like so:

H1 would signify the overall topic of the page
H2 content subheading
H3 - H6 subsequent sub-topics on a page

The idea behind them was to make the markup in HTML more semantic and understandable. Using more than one H2, whilst I don't think you're going to get penalised or anything, doesn't really make much sense for people or SEs.

That said, and I think this shows that HTML is a long way of being semantic, in blogs, for example, it would make sense to wrap all of you post headings in H2 or H3 tags, with the main blog heading in the H1 tag.

My rules of thumb:
  • Try to stick to 1 h1 tag where possible.
  • You can have multiple h2 tags if you have multiple subheadings for your h1 content.
  • You can have multiple h3 tags if you have multiple subheadings for your h2 content.
  • You can have multiple h4 tags if you have multiple subheadings for your h3 content.
  • You can have multiple h5 tags if you have multiple subheadings for your h4 content.
  • You can have multiple h6 tags if you have multiple subheadings for your h5 content.

I would not have that many. There is a point where Google will consider it to be "stuffing" and, likewise, your site will rank lower. It is except able to do as ED said, but putting to many Headings could result in a lower page ranking.
