You need to target your potential visitors.
So, social bookmarking is a waste of time, why would business users be on social bookmarking sites? They won't.
Treat it like a business, identify your target market, market to those individuals.

If you have to increase the traffic to your site then possibly i suggest you to increase the web presence of your site and more over if you do social media submissions then you have chances of improving your site's traffic.
Submit your website to the top search engines. get back links, submit articles to different article directories and most important concentrate on content.
Engaging in social bookmarking (delicious, digg, reddit, mixx, stumbleupon) and social networking (facebook, twitter, orkut, myspace) helps generate traffic.

I love when there is common sense around. And yet the last comment made still insists that the user should go to Social BM sites...go figure.
Mark, sadly the uncommon sense is more common than the common sense. Open any thread about seo and you'll probably find a few "get more backlinks" and "social bookmarking sites are good" responses.
If people took the time to stop and think about why they're trying to get search traffic in the first place and how that traffic fits within an overall marketing plan, they'd have a lot more success with both marketing in general and seo in particular.
Of course that would mean not looking for a quick shortcut so probably not going to happen for most people.

try to build quality in an organic way. Submit your link through directory submission and article submission. social bookmarking is also a way to building quality links. I think this is the first step to start promoting your site.
As it's a business site, you have target people who are interested in your business and products (if you are selling them). Also you can use google adsense wherein you can advertise your site on the websites as by doing that you earn money too and will get traffic. Hire a SEO to help you if nothing works.
You need to always keep in mind your long term strategies whilst deciding what the best short term answers are on a regular - call it weekly basis. Short term normally means doing some ppc campaigns although this has grown into quite an expensive means of building traffic.
If you follow what people have suggested here then that should take care of the long term. That is provided you keep it up.
Maybe consider ads.facebook? This is an area that I have not got a great deal of experience using but on paper it looks good. I will be reading around a bit more on that one myself.

Start doing link building and identify what are your keywords and try to rank on them so that when someone search on related keywords your site will be on the first first page of search results.

Start optimizing your website for your desired keywords. If your website will visible to surfers in your keywords your site will have lot of traffic.
