Do you think that Hubpages can be utilized for easy and quick Search Engine Optimization?

recently we got an order of a web2.0 linkwheel for promoting a PR website (meefu) and for building a few backlinks. They were also planning to make an ebook (explaining monetizing youtube). So it was requested to write anything about making money and build links for it. The job went good and we did 6 different pages in web2.0 properties. But to my surprise just with two days the page which is on hubpages got on 2nd page for a high paying keyword. I'm impressed with the power of hubpages. I think for very low search volume keywords we can rank pretty easily with hubpages.

and the keyword targeting with the web2.0 property is best way to make money online

Do you have any idea why this happened so easily and quickly?

It's only a matter of time that Google catches on that your doing a link wheel and my guess is - you might sink.

On the other hand - hubpages seems to get indexed quickly a pretty high - but I would stay away from linkwheels if I were you.

thanks for the reply. Though its a link wheel all the 6 properties are having different content. So how come its going to harm ? could you please explain?

Google loves social sites like hubpages etc. I thought hubpages was nofollow and won't affect your ranking in Google?

Hubpages can actually produce a good spot in Google so I'm not pretty amazed with the result.

As for the content, I don't see anything wrong if you're producing different content from 6 different properties. There will only be an issue if you are actually duplicating your content.

No hubpages can really help on rankings too.

This is their TOS

for the guys who are having user ratings below 75 All the links are nofollow

but if the user rating is above 75 the links are dofollow. Its not hard to get this rating.

The hubs rate is now 86 and hence its dofollow

A well optimized Hub can rank well in the search engines for your keywords and can provide dofollow links if the Hubscore rises above a certain threshold as flek mentioned. The Hubscore is based on Hubpages internal algorithm designed to identify quality content, not unlike regular SEO. I've found that if you create a quality piece of content, participate on Hubpages by commenting on other Hubs, get comments from other Hubbers on your Hub and naturally generate inbound links, the Hubscore can and will rise.

I don't think that it is not indexed so quickly. I have created a new hub http://hubpages.com/hub/carpet-cleaning-mechanisms 3 months ago and I've done anything till now, it is not yet indexed by google. Think I should lead the spiders to my hub.

That's because the whole idea of "blogs", "hubpages" etc having some almost "magical" significance for search engines is ridiculous.

You need to PROMOTE that "hub" as well.

Now what may happen if you put the same effort into creating content for the "main site" and doing the same promotion for that?

Hubpages is definitely emerging as an easy way to generate a descent amount of traffic for your website. In order to promote your Hubpage you can post your comments on Hubpages of other person with the same niche as of yours. This will help in increasing the popularity of your hubpage.
