Hey all,

Here are some tips for link building:

1. Submit your site to Web Directories.
2. Submit Press Releases to PR sites
3. Reciprocal Links with Similar Websites.
4. Create a Tool, Theme or Widget
5. Social Bookmarking
6. Comment on Other Blogs
7. Guest posting on other blogs
8. Create Squidoo Lenses
9. Article Submissions
10.Create Social Media Profiles

Very low value and pretty pointless links. And very little value for traffic building either, I mean, who uses directories these days?

Even better is to send press releases to sites that might find it interesting and post something about it with a link. That would be of much higher value than posting them on some PR website to get seriously lost for what, 1 backlink?

If you're really desperate I guess...

Link Baiting, Probably the best link building idea out there... sits nicely in the content is king realm.

This really is best for blogs.

Yup, but don't spam, add value to the blog by making decent comments and engaging.

Guest writing for more successful blogs is a good way to get started, but if you're writing great content, keep it on your own site.

I like Squidoo, nice idea and it's good you have a lot of control over the content of the pages. Problem is, the site has filled up with a lot of crap because people use it just to build links...

Definitely not. If you're writing content, keep it on your site!! It's not worth it for the hassle...

Much better would be to use the social media networks as a means to promote and engage with your potential customers.

5. Guest posting on other blogs.Like article and press releases, this one involves having readily available content you can send out to certain blogs in your niche. This is great for getting relevant links and traffic.

Well there isn't going to be very many times that someone can create an entirely new link building technique.

I'd say focus on activities which can both drive traffic and improve SERPS. Videos, articles etc etc

I think you can get the tips for off page optimization from many sites on the web.
But Can any body tell me how to start off page optimization. I mean Should I start from Directory submission or three way link building? and what should I do next.

In order to start off page optimization, you can start bookmarking your site to different Social Bookmarking Sites. Initially Submit your website to link to only HIGH PR Site i.e above 4 PR Directories. Follow people with same interest on twitter and Tweet the updates on your site frequently, say 2 tweets in a day is sufficient. Three way link building is good only if you have good PR sites to deal with.

I think all these are used until the real value of links built through these are worn out to a point of no use. Link building has come to a point where you have to work hard to get a link. I use these frequently.

1. Contact Webmasters direct and get links. I sometimes call them if I can find their number. It usually works.
2. publish blog posts and articles on my site and create a buzz through twitter. Retweet if possible.
3. Get influential bloggers to blog on my blog. They are usually good enough to mention my site in their blog.
4. Publish articles on various sites with link resources pointing to my site. Then if someone wants to take off the link resources, they are effectively rendering the document useless.
5. Sculpt some PR if possible so that my inner pages would rank. (Not exactly link building. But then again....)
6. I also try to use Google resources such as blog search, Local business center and Google documents as much as possible when link building. Surely, Google must be trusting their own stuff right?

These are some link building strategies I use. Will update this when some other things pop into my head.
