The main question is about links and if they woudl have a detrimental effect on my site.

The story:

We have a live site and test site (both hosted online) ptipackaging.com is the live site and the test site has a -1.com at the end of the domain name. Now, we regularly use this test site a backup of our products and to test new layouts and ideas.

The products listed in the test site have links going to the live site. However, each page on the site has the meta no index,nofollow and noarchive tags. Will those links lead to issues with my non test site?

It is likely to confuse customers if they come across it.

I have done everything in my power to keep this test site from view of the general public. Their are no links to it anywhere (including backlinks) and I have even set up a WMT profile on it to ensure that it stays out of the index.

Maybe password protect the site with htaccess ?
